Predicted from world generation. Confirm with /locate structure minecraft:nether_fossil before a long trip. Found in the Nether.
Where do Nether fossils spawn?
Nether fossils are skeletons made of bone blocks that generate only in the soul sand valley. They are the only natural source of bone blocks in the Nether, and each one is a different size and shape. The finder uses the game's own placement rules and the exact Nether terrain to give the position and height.
How to find Nether fossils without a seed map
- Switch to the Nether dimension in your world and enter the seed.
- Pick a radius. Fossils are common inside soul sand valleys, so 600 blocks is a good start.
- Use the
/tpbutton, or run/locate structure minecraft:nether_fossilto confirm the nearest one. - Mine the bone blocks with a pickaxe. They can be crafted into bone meal.
