A Chunkbase Alternative: How MC Seed Maps Compares

MC Seed Maps is a free, browser-based seed map for Java Edition 1.18 through 26.3, with 20 structure finders and a biome-only Bedrock mode. If you are looking for a Chunkbase alternative, this page explains honestly what our tool does, where it is more limited, and which criteria to check when you compare any seed map.

Chunkbase is a separate, independent site. MC Seed Maps is not affiliated with Chunkbase, and neither site is an official Minecraft product.

What does MC Seed Maps do?

It turns a seed into a map in your browser. On the seed map you can:

• Enter a numeric or text seed.
• Pick a Java version: 26.3, 26.2, 26.1, 1.21.x, 1.20.x, 1.19.x or 1.18.x (all labelled Verified after in-game tests).
• Switch between the Overworld, the Nether and the End.
• Toggle structure layers on and off.
• See X/Z coordinates and the biome under your cursor.
• Click a marker to copy a /tp command.
• Mark structures as visited (saved in your browser).
• Share a link to the exact view.
• Jump to coordinates.

Your seed is not uploaded. The map is calculated on your device.

Beyond the map, there are 20 structure finders such as the village finder, trial chamber finder and ancient city finder. Each lists the nearest structures around a point, sorted by distance, with a mini map and a copy button for /tp. The structure finder hub links to all of them.

What does MC Seed Maps not do yet?

Being clear about limits matters more than a long feature list.

What does Chunkbase list on its seed map page?

We only describe what Chunkbase's own seed map page showed when we checked it on 2026-09-26. Its version menu lists Java Edition versions from 1.7 up to 26.3 (plus Large Biomes and experimental entries) and Bedrock Edition versions up to the 26.5x range. Its feature list includes many layers that we do not offer, such as dungeons, fossils, caves, ravines, geodes and ore veins, next to common structures like villages, strongholds, ancient cities and trial chambers.

In other words, by the page's own list, Chunkbase covers more versions and more feature types than MC Seed Maps does today. We have not tested its accuracy, and we make no claims about its prices or ads.

Which criteria should I compare?

The best seed map is the one that fits your world. Check these points on any tool, ours included.

• Focused Java coverage. Every modern Java version from 1.18 to 26.3 is available.
• Finder pages. If you want "the nearest trial chamber" rather than a full map, the finders give a sorted list with /tp buttons.
• Visited markers. Handy when you loot many structures of the same type.

• Your world is older than Java 1.18.
• You play Bedrock and need structure positions.

How do I check any seed map's results?

Confirm in the game, no matter which tool you use. On Java Edition, open a test copy of your world with cheats on and run:

/locate structure minecraft:trial_chambers

/locate needs permission level 2 on Java. It prints clickable coordinates. If the map and /locate disagree, first check that the version and edition match. Our positions come from world generation via the open-source cubiomes library, so they are predictions, and terrain can stop some structures from generating.

How do I try MC Seed Maps?

1. Copy your seed with /seed on Java (it works in singleplayer even with cheats off) or from the Edit world screen on Bedrock.
2. Paste it into the seed map.
3. Choose your version and dimension, and turn on the layers you need.
4. Compare a few structures with what you already know in your world.

If you play Bedrock, start with the Bedrock seed map for biomes. For structures on Java, open the seed map or go straight to a finder.
