Where do mineshafts spawn?
Mineshafts are underground and spawn in any Overworld biome except the Deep Dark. They are the most common generated structure in the Overworld. Badlands, Eroded Badlands and Wooded Badlands get their own variant built from dark oak. Our finder shows the start chunk of each mineshaft; the tunnels spread out from there underground.
How to find mineshafts without a seed map
- Look for mineshaft explorer maps in the secret chests of abandoned camps.
- Explore large caves and ravines; oak planks, fences and rails in the wall mean a mineshaft.
- In Badlands, look for dark oak supports instead of oak.
- Use
/locate structure minecraft:mineshaft(orminecraft:mineshaft_mesain Badlands) in a creative test copy of your world.
