Minecraft Nether Fortress Finder
Enter your Java seed and version to see the nearest nether fortresses with Nether coordinates and a ready /tp command. Confirm with /locate structure minecraft:fortress in the Nether of a test world before a long trip.
Predicted from world generation. Confirm with /locate structure minecraft:fortress before a long trip. Found in the Nether.
Where do Nether fortresses spawn?
Nether fortresses generate in the Nether and can appear in any Nether biome. In Java, the Nether is split into 432 × 432 block regions, and each region holds either a fortress or a bastion remnant. Fortresses get 2 in 5 of those regions.
How to find Nether fortresses without a seed map
- Pick one direction and travel far in a straight line; fortresses are large and easy to spot from a distance.
- Look for dark red nether brick walls and bridges across lava lakes.
- Remember that Nether distances are 1/8 of the Overworld, so a short Nether trip covers a lot of ground.
- Use the nether fortress finder with your seed to get Nether X and Z and skip the search.

Frequently asked questions
What is the command to find a nether fortress?
Use /locate structure minecraft:fortress while you are in the Nether in Java Edition.
Why can't I find a nether fortress?
Each 432 × 432 region in Java has either a fortress or a bastion, and only 2 in 5 are fortresses. Use the finder to see which regions near you have one.
Are the coordinates Nether or Overworld coordinates?
The finder shows Nether coordinates. Divide Overworld X and Z by 8 to match them to a portal in the Overworld.
What do you get from a nether fortress?
Blazes from blaze spawners, wither skeletons, nether wart and loot chests with gold ingots, saddles, diamonds and obsidian.
Does the fortress finder work for Bedrock?
Not yet. Bedrock places Nether structures differently, so our Bedrock mode shows biomes only.
